☑️ You are doing everything your physio tells you, but you have a nagging feeling your nutrition could be working harder for your recovery — you just don't know where to start.
☑️ You've googled "nutrition for Achilles rupture" and ended up with five different answers, none of them specific enough to actually follow.
☑️ You're worried about gaining fat while you're off your feet, so you've been cutting carbs or eating less — but something feels off about that approach.
☑️ Rehab is already expensive. You don't want to throw money at another thing, but you also know that getting this wrong now could cost you more time on the sidelines.
☑️ You want someone to just tell you what to eat, in a way that actually makes sense for the stage of recovery you're in right now.
The problem with what you've already tried:
Generic nutrition advice wasn't written for a ruptured Achilles
Here's why your current approach isn't giving you the structure you need:
Googling it yourself
The information is all over the place. Some of it contradicts itself. None of it is organised into a phase-by-phase plan that tells you what to prioritise right now depending on where you are in recovery. You end up knowing a lot of words and doing nothing with them.
Cutting carbs to manage weight
Completely understandable instinct. Also, unfortunately, one of the worst things you can do in early recovery. Carbohydrates help you hold onto muscle when your body is under stress. Cutting them now means slower healing and more muscle loss — more to rebuild later.
Buying a collagen supplement and hoping for the best
Collagen is genuinely useful. But there's a specific dose, timing, and protocol that makes it effective for tendon healing — and most people are doing none of it correctly. A supplement without context is just an expensive habit.
What actually works:
Nutrition that matches your rehab, phase by phase
Most people treat rehab and nutrition as two separate things. They're not. What you eat directly determines how much muscle you hold onto during immobilisation, how quickly your tendon remodels, and how strong you come back. These plans join those two things together.
Designed for the injury, not for general fitness
An Achilles rupture is not a hamstring strain. The nutritional demands are different at every stage — from acute swelling management through to full strength return. These plans were built specifically around those demands, not repurposed from a general athlete template.
Phase-matched so you're always doing the right thing at the right time
You don't need the same fuel in week two as you do in week sixteen. Each plan is tailored to where you are in the recovery arc — so you're not overeating during immobilisation or underfuelling when your body is trying to rebuild.
Practical enough to follow when you're on one leg
These meals were written for people managing crutches, a boot, and an awful lot of couch time. Simple to prepare, straightforward to follow, and built around real food — not a supplement stack you'll abandon by week three.
The three plans:
One for every stage of your recovery
Buy the plan for where you are now, or grab the full bundle. Each one picks up exactly where the last one ends.
Each phase contains:
✓ instant PDF download
✓ 7 days of meals + recipes
✓ supplement recommendations and dosage
✓ 60/70/80kg scaling
✓ Gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options
Phase 1:
Weeks 0–4 - Protect & Preserve
Immobilisation phase. The goal is managing acute inflammation and minimising the muscle loss that happens fast when you stop loading the leg.
Phase 2:
Weeks 4–12 - Heal & Build
Early rehab phase. Your tendon is remodelling and your physio is loading it again. Nutrition now directly supports that process — protein, collagen, micronutrients.
Phase 3:
Weeks 12-26 - Strengthen & Return
The long game. Rebuilding the calf strength and power that got lost during immobilisation. The phase most people underestimate nutritionally.

Why I built this:
I'm Bella — Sports Dietitian, and the person who Googled "Achilles rupture nutrition" from a hospital bed at midnight
When I ruptured my Achilles, I did what any dietitian with an anxiety spiral and too much screen time would do. I Googled everything. I found general injury advice, vague supplement recommendations, and a lot of articles that weren't written by anyone who had actually stood in a moonboot.
What I didn't find was a simple, phase-specific plan that told me what to eat right now to actually help what was happening in my body right now.
So I built it for myself. Applied everything I know as a sports dietitian — protein for muscle preservation, collagen timing for tendon remodelling, carbohydrate periodisation across the recovery arc — and followed it through ten months of rehab.
I came back lifting heavier than I ever had, with no calf deficit, and playing the football I thought this injury might take from me.
These plans are exactly what I used. They're not theoretical. They're not repurposed from a general sports nutrition textbook. They were built for this specific, mentally and physically demanding injury — because it deserves its own plan.
Nutrition shouldn't be the enemy during recovery. It's one of the few things you can actually control.
What's inside:
Four things every guide gives you!
No fluff. No filler. Everything you need to fuel the phase you're in — and nothing you don't.
-
A week of meals matched precisely to your current recovery stage. Real food, realistic portions, easy to prep when you can't stand for long.
-
Day-by-day grid showing exactly what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack — with calories, protein, fat and carbs per meal.
-
Ingredients, method, prep time, and macros for every meal — including 2–3 batch-cook heroes per phase to keep weeknights easy.
-
Consolidated grocery list organised by aisle. Hand it to anyone — partner, parent, flatmate — and they can shop the whole week for you.
Real results from real rehab
Questions you might have.

Go ahead — I did too. What you'll find is a handful of generic "eat more protein" articles, a few PubMed abstracts you need a research background to interpret, and zero practical guidance on what to actually put on your plate at week 2 versus week 14.
The problem isn't that the information doesn't exist. It's that it's scattered across clinical journals, not written for athletes, and completely disconnected from the reality of cooking on crutches with one functioning leg.
These plans take the research and turn it into a shopping list. That's what Google can't give you.

Yes. The plans are built around three reference body weights, but the principles scale — and the macro tables show you exactly how the daily targets shift. If you're 65kg, you sit between the 60kg base and 70kg add-on; at 75kg, between 70kg and 80kg. Most people work out their right serving size within a day. For fully personalised guidance, check out the Spice Performance Method 1:1 coaching at the end of each guide.
-
No. The recipes are templates — once you understand the macro target of each meal, you can swap protein, carbs and veg of similar nutritional value. The recipes give you a proven starting point so you don't have to guess.
-
Yes — the nutrition principles for tendon repair are essentially identical. The phase you're in is what matters most: are you immobilised? Doing controlled rehab? Strengthening? Pick the phase that matches your current rehab stage and follow that plan.
-
The current plans are omnivore-based but have vegan and vegetarian as well as dairy free and gluten free alternatives. Most lunches and dinners have natural vegetarian swaps (legumes, tofu, tempeh) that hit the same protein target. If you need a fully customised plan around allergies or dietary preferences, the 1:1 Spice Performance Method is the right fit.

No. This is nutrition guidance designed to complement medical and physiotherapy advice — not replace it. Always follow your treating team's protocols. The phase timings are based on typical rehab milestones and may need adjusting to your specific surgical or non-surgical pathway.
