——— Sports Dietitian · Female Athlete & Injury Rehab Specialist
Hi, I’m Bella Rennick
Accredited Sports Dietitian for Female Athletes
Accredited Sports Dietitian. Former elite junior AFL athlete. Founder of Spice Nutrition.
I built Spice Nutrition because female athletes deserved better than generic advice — and I was one of those athletes who needed it. Sports nutrition built for female athletes, by a female athlete.
——— My Story
From the Field to the Clinic
WHERE IT STARTED:
I grew up in sport. Junior netball, cricket, gymnastics, dance — but AFL was where I found my edge. I played u18 Girls for the Eastern Ranges in the NAB Talent League, trained with the Hawthorn VFLW squad, and went on to captain my senior women's team.
THE GAP I COULDN’T IGNORE:
Through all of it, nutrition was the missing piece. We trained hard. We competed hard. But no one was talking to us about how to fuel it. I hit energy walls mid-season that I couldn't explain. Recovery felt harder than it should. Teammates were dealing with the same things — fatigue, body composition concerns, mood swings, iron deficiency — with no professional support in sight.
Female athletes were expected to figure it out on their own. I was one of them.
"I became a Sports Dietitian because I didn't want another female athlete to go through what I went through — guessing, struggling, and performing below her potential because the support just wasn't there."
WHAT I DID ABOUT IT:
I studied. Bachelor of Nutrition Science, then a Master of Dietetics at Deakin. I became an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and an Accredited Sports Dietitian (AcSD) — the highest qualification in sports nutrition in Australia. I added ISAK Level 1 Anthropometry to give me precision tools for body composition assessment.
BUILDING THE EXPERIENCE:
I went to work. Sports Dietitian at An AFL Coaching Academy. 1:1 coaching with hundreds of athletes across AFL, AFLW, Soccer, Rugby, HYROX, Athletics and CrossFit. Nutrition presentations at local gyms and community clubs. Coaching elite junior women's teams on and off the field.
Every athlete I worked with reinforced the same thing: female athletes are underserved, and the impact of getting nutrition right is enormous.
WHY SPICE NUTRITION?
Spice Nutrition is the brand I built to close that gap at scale. Programs designed specifically for female physiology and injury recovery. Evidence-based strategies that actually work in real training schedules. Support that respects the complexity of being a female athlete — the hormonal fluctuations, the energy demands, the pressure to perform, the life that happens around it all.

——— My Approach
How I work:
01
Female physiology first
Everything I do is built around how the female body actually works — hormonal fluctuations, menstrual cycle phases, bone health, iron, energy availability. Not a male template with minor adjustments.
02
Athlete autonomy
The goal isn't dependency — it's competence. I want every athlete I work with to understand their nutrition well enough to make great decisions independently, for the rest of their career.
03
Whole person, not just performance
Performance matters. But so does long-term health, relationship with food, mental wellbeing, and life beyond sport. I hold all of that in every consultation.
04
Collaborative by default
I work alongside your coaches, S&C staff and medical team where relevant. Your nutrition strategy should amplify everything else in your program — not exist in isolation.
——— Sports I've Worked With
While AFLW and female team sport is my specialty, I've worked with athletes across a wide range of disciplines. If your sport isn't listed, reach out — the principles of female sports nutrition apply broadly.
